We owe much to the bees.  Globally there are more honey bees than other types of bee and pollinating insects, so it is the world's most important pollinator of food crops. It is estimated that one-third of the food that we consume each day relies on pollination mainly by bees.  Unfortunately, bees are in a pandemic health crisis. Parasites and diseases brought on by modern farming practices are threatening their very existence, with tens of thousands of hives dying each year as a result.  But there is new hope!  We have discovered a research initiative that is already making incredible strides to help save the bees.
